Hey! My name is Dr. Buchanan, and I look forward to meeting you! I’m originally from Kennesaw, Georgia, and attended the University of Georgia, where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Go Dawgs! I then completed my Doctorate of Dental Medicine at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Sarasota, Florida. What I enjoy most about dentistry is partnering with patients to create their ideal smile and improve their oral health. I strive to provide a comfortable, enjoyable environment for the whole family while delivering the highest quality of care based on leading academic principles and techniques. My wife, Jessica, and I love living in Asheville. We enjoy hiking in the mountains, exploring nearby towns, building woodworking projects, traveling, watching Georgia football, and hosting friends and family for a firepit or game night.

Dr. Alexa Norian, DMD, is a New Jersey native who relocated to Asheville in 2021 for its beautiful mountains and outdoorsy lifestyle. She earned a BS in Bioengineering from Pennsylvania State University and completed her doctorate at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine, where she was one of eight graduates inducted into the OKU National Dental Honor Society. She then worked as an associate in central New Jersey before moving south. Dr. Norian is married to her husband, Evan, and they have a baby girl who keeps them busy! Outside of work, you can find them hiking, rock climbing, or enjoying Asheville’s music scene. She strives to treat her patients comfortably with the best possible, research-driven care and looks forward to meeting all her new patients.

Hi, I’m Dr. Robert Henkel. After practicing dentistry for 29 years in the Boston area, I took an early retirement in 2019 and moved with my wife, Liz, to Brevard, NC. With two adult children out making their mark on the world, I soon realized I truly missed dentistry. When the opportunity to join Hendersonville Family Dental arose, I knew I’d found the right place to continue doing what I love, in an atmosphere that fosters excellence. I also volunteer one day a week at a free clinic, treating those with limited access to care. I was born and raised north of Chicago, earned a B.S. in Biology from Loyola University of Chicago, and received my D.D.S. from Northwestern University in 1990. After completing a fellowship in Anesthesiology at the Medical College of Pennsylvania, I practiced in Boston until 2019. I’ve always embraced dental technology—CEREC, lasers, implants, 3D imaging and printing—combining innovation with sound planning to provide the best care possible. Something you wouldn’t know about me: I do NOT like going to the dentist. Childhood experiences left their mark, which helps me empathize deeply with my patients and work hard to make every visit as easy and comfortable as possible. And no—I do not have a Boston accent.

Dr. S. Michael Roussel brings over 25 years of experience to his role as an associate dentist at Hendersonville Family Dental. A New Orleans native, he began his professional path as a pharmaceutical representative before discovering his calling in dentistry and earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Case Western Reserve School of Dentistry. Known for his approachable manner and attention to detail, Dr. Roussel enjoys blending art and science, with special interests in CEREC same-day dentistry, anterior bondings, and digital smile design. Outside the office, he enjoys hiking Western North Carolina’s scenic trails with his family and their dog, Cosmo, cooking classic Louisiana dishes, and pursuing astrophotography under the clear mountain skies.
