The health and safety of our patients, staff, and community is a top priority, and our thoughts are with those impacted by the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) global pandemic. With the effects of the outbreak being felt more each day, we wanted to reach out to our patients to let you know what actions and precautions we are taking.
Effective March 17th, 2020, our team will be concentrating on emergency dental care and will be postponing all elective dental procedures, such as dental cleanings, for the next few weeks. This will allow us to care for our emergency patients and alleviate the burden that dental emergencies would place on hospital emergency departments.
We are closely monitoring this situation and will provide updates as new information becomes available, as well as what is currently being recommended by the ADA.
Precautions Taken For Appointments:
- Please know that the precautions we already take every day to prevent the spread of infection at our practice also helps prevent the spread of COVID-19.
- Before you enter the examining room, all surfaces, such as the dental chair, dental light, drawer handles and countertops, have been cleaned and disinfected. Some equipment may be covered with protective covers, which are replaced after each patient.
- Non-disposable items, like dental tools, are cleaned and sterilized between patients. Disposable dental tools and needles are never reused.
- All dental staff involved in patient care use appropriate protective equipment, such as gloves, masks, gowns, and eyewear when needed. After each patient, disposable gloves and masks are thrown away. Before seeing the next patient, everyone on our treatment team washes their hands and puts on a new pair of gloves.
- Public areas are cleaned and disinfected frequently, including door handles, chairs and bathrooms.
- We are screening our patients for travel and signs and symptoms of infection, such as a cough, fever or shortness of breath.
What You Can Do:
If you are ill with flu-like symptoms or otherwise feel unwell, you should reschedule your dental appointment.
If you or someone you are in close contact with have recently traveled to one of the countries with large outbreaks of COVID-19 (China, Italy, Iran, South Korea, Europe) or if you have been exposed to someone else who was diagnosed with COVID-19 or who was quarantined as a precaution, wait at least 14 days until you see your dentist to make sure you have not caught the coronavirus.
If you are healthy, you may attend your scheduled dental appointment.
